
Maya Barfield, DVM
Dr. Barfield is Veterinary Education Network (VEN) medical director and brings a wealth of experience as it relates to private practice and regulatory science in the veterinary space.
She oversees the oversight and assurance of integrity related to VEN scientific programs.
Dr. Barfield’s career began as a private practitioner in a dynamic practice in the Maryland-DC metropolitan area owned (via acquisition) by Veterinary Centers of America (VCA).
She was eventually elevated to Medical Director and served as medical director of a VCA hospital in Bowie, Maryland.
In 2001 Dr. Barfield relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana and joined Elanco Animal Health (Elanco).
Dr. Barfield worked in regulatory science and help in the early development and regulatory filing of Reconcile a key companion animal product for Elanco.
In 2005, Dr. Barfield relocated to Texas and continues her passion and love for animals through doing relief work in her community.
She is married with four daughters and two cats and is a longstanding member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Dallas Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Barfield received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee University and is licensed to practice in both Texas and Indiana.
